Seasons change. Fashion changes. So do the styles and accessories. But one thing has always remained constant – our love for jewellery. Come fall, come spring, the styles and trends of jewellery may have changed. Various elements or materials have ruled different times and different seasons; some have successfully made a comeback like gemstone jewellery, and some have always been around like gold, silver and beads. Sometimes, the trend is brought on by new inventions, and sometimes the credit goes to the various fashion designers around the world.

Jewellery has never been restricted to one gender. Both genders have equally loved wearing jewellery right from the start of human evolution. With time, this love for jewellery has evolved along with human development and evolution of jewellery. Today, we have men donning and flaunting neck chains, rings and bracelets. Men flaunt different kinds of bracelets and pendants that best express them or their mood.

Jewellery has never been restricted to any particular strata of the society or any particular clan or tribe. Everyone loves wearing jewellery and everyone has their own set of trinkets for different kinds of occasion. Even the tribal communities have their own kind of jewellery, which are most of the times made by themselves and, therefore, are closer to nature. On second thought, some people, though they belong to different strata of the social hierarchy, prefer tribal jewellery as these ornaments have a very ethnic touch.

Apart from tribal jewellery, people prefer jewellery of other materials such as beads, pearls, gold, crystal, silver, platinum etc. The list is endless. In fact, it is not what material the jewellery is made of; rather, it is about what goes best with your personality, the surroundings you are in, your social status and the occasion you are part of.

Paul Shane cherishes a hobby of studying and collecting jewellery, to dig out the making and story behind them, especially the rare or exquisite ones, also the beads being used for manufacturing the jewellery. He also loves studying consumer behaviour related to jewellery selecting and buying. At present he is associated with a leading group called E-Beads Limited.

Good Thursday morning to you!

This is not about Jessica Alba, but close:  - organic displays for my handcrafted jewelry….

Besides my website www.timelyjewels.com I sell my unusual and unique handmade jewelry on the beach in Santa Barbara every Sunday. The Santa Barbara Arts and Crafts Show under the palms on Cabrillo Boulevard is in its 42. year and is still going strong every Sunday of the year, weather permitting.

Since the close proximity to the ocean makes for strong breezes at times, my price tags are pebbles and rocks… free, easy to recycle and very organic.

Speaking of recycling: I recently had this idea - display cards for necklaces cut out of used card board boxes . It works fabulously well, brings me many favorable remarks and is a conversation starter. I display them in baskets or plastic containers for people to easily flip thru. Without using a lot of my limited table space, I can show many of my timely jewels designs. I cut the cards approximately 7″x10″ with notches for the ‘neck’. (See picture.)

display4.JPG

Earring displays are upside down waste paper baskets, picture frames filled with window screen material or a tomato plant wire basket wrapped with hemp twine.

And now to the ‘Black Beans and Barley’: I fill regular jewelry trays with either, and they make my displays for cuff bracelets and rings…

My distinctly different jewelry styles have an earthy flavor and are well suited for these somewhat crude, organic displays.

Facetted Serpentine nuggets framed in copper wire scrolls… Often I actually make the new creation right there and then - in the middle of the night. I already thought of many variations… You can find it and others on www.timelyjewels.com under ‘Copper, Hemp and Leather’.

Montana Agate and Jade

I like simple shapes and muted colors. I do not strive for perfection, - in fact I cherish charming flaws… I do not like ‘to match’, rather coordinate or compliment. Off-center has a great appeal to me…

If you have similar tastes, take a peak at my distinctly different handmade jewelry at www.timelyjewels.com and find out, what we have in common.

Santa Barbara Beach Morning

Santa Barbara Beach Morning

I am a jewelry creator in Santa Barbara, California.

The most heard comment about my designs is “they’re soo different”, which I take as a compliment.

A large majority of the people admiring my designs are afraid to “dare to be different”, but a very much appreciated group of individuals dives right into the deep pool of my out-of-the-ordinary and distinctly different creations.

I offer one-of-a-kind and very limited editions of unique handmade jewelry, using uncommon materials such as copper, fiberglass, leather, hemp, and glass as well as gemstones and precious metals. I fabricate my metal settings all by hand using cold and hot connections.

I can be found every Sunday (as weather permits) “on the beach” (Cabrillo Boulevard) in Santa Barbara and my jewelry is available on my website www.timelyjewels.com

The mind is a wonderful thing. It’s something we’ve all been blessed with and it can turn anyone into a success. It does not matter whether you’re a college graduate or a high school dropout. If one has it in their mind to succeed, it will happen.

One thing I must stress is that it will not happen overnight. The first thing to know is what you focus your thoughts on, you will get. For instance, positive thoughts lead to a positive outcome and negative thoughts lead to a negative outcome. This is where most people fail, especially when they start a home based business. I’ve seen this over and over again… they get started with excitement and enthusiasm. When things do not quickly go the way they planned, discouragement sets in and their attitude plummets. Successful people have the ability to take setbacks as a learning experience. They will still have a positive outlook on their business and move quickly forward.

As I mentioned, anyone can become a success. It just takes some adjustments in the mindset each and every day. Think about for a moment… when one decides to get into shape, what do they need to do to reach their goal? For one, they need to work on their muscles routinely to achieve the results they desire. Now, think about your mind as a muscle. Working out the muscle of the mind each and every day will build your mindset to a more positive state.

By practicing this simple strategy over time, you will find yourself thinking positive thoughts effortlessly. It will seem as though negativity no longer exists. That… my friends, is a wonderful thing!

As an added bonus, I’ll provide you with a very simple exercise to get you started. First, be conscious of your thoughts.
